SafeNZ.net - New Zealand's Smartest ISP

Q. How is SafeNZ's WEB filtering service different from others that seem to offer this service?
A. SafeNZ employs a multi layer approach to filtering. Traditional filtering techniques rely on manual block lists to identity undesirable sites. This means that a site is not blocked until someone reports it as being undesirable. That single layer approach is woefully inadequate, as sites change on an almost daily basis. SafeNZ employs a second layer of "intelligent" filtering that actively assesses all websites content dynamically. This means the filtering system can block sites months before simple block list filtering systems, and brings the accuracy of the blocking system up to previously unobtainable levels.

Q. What type of web content does SafeNZ filter out?
A. The target is offensive or illegal content, this includes pornography, hacking and other content that would not normally be acceptable in the average New Zealand home or business.

Q. Are all SafeNZ customers filtered equally ?
A. Yes, all customers have the same filtering applied.

Q. What if I want to have sites blocked that are offensive to me that  others want to be able to access ?
A. If you want a fine level of control over the blocking of particular sites we recommend that you install standard web blocking software in addition to SafeNZ filtering. SafeNZ's level of blocking is tailored as the "First Line of Defense", and is designed to be at a level that the average parent or business in New Zealand will find acceptable. SafeNZ is designed to be simple as possible for the average person to use so we do not support customisation on a per user basis.

Q. Why do you spell Defense with an "s" not a "c"
A. Research showed that the "c" spelling was only relevant to the UK, we are not in the UK.
